Finally!! Microsoft Joins Eclipse Foundation















Finally!! Microsoft becomes the new member of the eclipse(An open source community) foundation.

Microsoft recently announced that it will join the eclipse foundation bringing more tools for the community developers,Microsoft will provide Team Explorer Everywhere(TEE) for both Visual Studio Team Services and Team Foundation Server(TFS) as a open source software on Github.











The new eclipse will work on the Visual Studio and vice-versa.Microsoft also introduced the Microsoft Azure Toolkit for Eclipes and Java Software Development Kit(SDK) for Azure which will enables Eclipse users to build cloud applications by using the open source eclipse.
  
With the Team Explorer Everywhere plug-in developers will have ability to access to the full Visual Studio Team Services. Also by Java Tools Challenge developers can build apps that can be added as a extension to the Visual Studio Team System(VSTS) and all of things are maintained by the Eclipse Marketplace.

With the help of Java Webapp support in the Azure Toolkit for Eclipse,developers can make it easy to take a Java web app and have it running in Azure within the couple of seconds.

But Microsoft is not disclosing how much it will contribute financially to the Eclipse.

Microsoft Also added that:-

“We have worked with the Eclipse Foundation for many years to improve the Java experience across our portfolio of application platform and development services, including Visual Studio Team Services and Microsoft Azure,” Microsoft’s general manager of its Developer Division Shanku Niyogi writes today. “Joining the Eclipse Foundation enables us to collaborate more closely with the Eclipse community, deliver a great set of tools and services for all development teams, and continuously improve our cloud services, SDKs and tools.”
